STANDING AGAINST GOLIATH

CLICK TO PLAY SONG

This song is our perspective as the little guy up against a Goliath corporation. We have limited resources, they don’t. Knowing that, they have given no care to do the right thing. We remember who won the first David v. Goliath fight by the favor of God.

“Standing Against Goliath”is a landowners’ account of a two year journey after the REX pipeline gas compressor was built 951 feet from their family of 9's front door, followed by converting the originally natural gas transporting Trailblazer Pipeline in their pasture, only 800 feet from their door, to the asphyxiant CO2. No resolution after nearly 2 years and the case has been filed. Hume, Brady et al v. Tallgrass Energy et al, was filed in Logan County District Court under case number 2026CV0300

LYRICS

Verse 1

The barn was built by hands that came before us, The fence line strung by Robert Fischer's callused palm. We never asked for a pipeline running through us, Just peace, and quiet, and a patch of High Plains calm.

Pre-Chorus

Then the trucks rolled in, and the compressors followed, Talked about progress, talked about the greater good. We stayed hushed near two years, tried to work it out proper, Neighbor to neighbor, the way we always would.

Chorus

But Goliath don't listen when David's just asking, He counts his profits while we count the cost. Compressor humming through the walls we're sleeping, Life, and liberty, and the ground we love — near lost. This ain't about the money, it's about the living, It's about a family that won't be pushed around. Ready now to move, and not a dime was given — That ain't love thy neighbor. That's tearing neighbor down.

Verse 2

They'll tell you it's safe, that it's already tested, But the folks in Satartia know a different truth. Forty-five went to the hospital when that CO2 line ruptured, Cars stalled dead, and the sirens couldn't move. Compressor noise climbs past what science says is safe, NOx and VOCs drifting through our door. Sleep don't come easy with that engine running all night — Nervous system wracking, heartache, and a whole lot more.

Verse 3

Two years we called, texted and had the place tested, staying civil, Hoping decency would meet us halfway there. Two years of letters, meetings, biting back our frustration, Praying someone with a conscience might just care. Hey Tallgrass and Trailblazer, what will the courts say? say? Every acre that we're standing on is home. Don't go build your empire on somebody else's suffering, But this ground right here was never yours to own.

Bridge

This is bigger than a pipeline, bigger than a border, It's the oldest fight there's ever been to fight — The man with the sling against the one in armor, Just asking to be treated with a little bit of right. Life, and liberty, and a peaceful, working homestead, That's all wanted, just come to the table and let's end this fight. So Goliath look the other way, we're selecting our stones, 'Cause you don't respond nor offer help. Compressor's humming, but our voice is getting stronger, Life, and liberty — we're not backing down no more. This ain't about the money, it's about the living, It's about a family that won't be pushed around. We're packing up now, lookin to move, not a dime was given — That ain't love thy neighbor. That's tearing neighbor down.

Outro (spoken/sung, soft) C'mon Tallgrass, make it right. Let's end this fight.
